As a geek… I unzip and zip a lot! Now, along comes a totally FREE, and very useful, archive tool! Check this out!
“IZArc is the ultimate archive utility supports many archive formats like: 7-ZIP, A, ACE, ARC, ARJ, B64, BH, BIN, BZ2, BZA, C2D, CAB, CDI, CPIO, DEB, ENC, GCA, GZ, GZA, HA, IMG, ISO, JAR, LHA, LIB, LZH, MDF, MBF, MIM, NRG, PAK, PDI, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR, TAZ, TBZ, TGZ, TZ, UUE, WAR, XXE, YZ1, Z, ZIP, ZOO. With a modern easy-to-use interface, IZArc provides support for most compressed and encoded files, as well as access to many powerful features and tools. It allows you to drag and drop files from and to Windows Explorer, create and extract archives directly in Windows Explorer, create multiple archives spanning disks, creating self-extracting archives, repair damaged zip archives, converting from one archive type to another, view and write comments and many more. IZArc has also build-in multilanguage support.”
So… this one does it all! I got rid of several tools and now just use IZArc! Cool!
This falls under “Geek Culture!” It kinda reminds me of Tim Allen on his “show within a show” which was “Tool Time”, and the real TV show was “Home Improvement”… Tim would do crazy things to “speed up,” add hosepower, or take shortcuts… well, these guys chose to use Liquid Oxygen to speen up cleaning and firing up a charcoal grill (DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME!)
“Cooking with Liquid Oxygen… A short film clip of lighting of the grill with 3 gallons of liquid oxygen. Started with 60 lbs of charcoal, and burnt up 40 lbs of it in 3 seconds. Result is a grill ready to cook in about 3 seconds, and all the old grease, etc burned off. Don’t try this at home.
WARNING: An ignition source, such as a lit cigarette or one glowing coal, must be present before pouring on the LOX. If charcoal is PRESOAKED in LOX first, an explosion will result. One briquette presoaked in LOX is approx equiv to 1 stick of dynamite.”
Dewd. These guys are crazy!

Apologies to Scott!, Dr, Bill does “pennants” by putting the Red SOX header on the web site this week!, ISORecorder: Geek Software of the Week!, why Ethanol is good… air as fuel for cars and planes, a virus that attacks Windows and Linux – Yike!, it is time to abandon “ol’ dog operating systems” for Linux, Linux distros I recommend to newbies! (I did the Podcast Sunday because I “got away” for Easter holiday this weekend! Happy Resurrection Day!!!)
If you have ever been a pet owner that had an old faithful pet, that just got so sick and pitiful that it had to be, as the saying goes, “put down,” then you will understand the anxiety of current Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and ME owners! This July 11th is it! Microsoft will no longer support those operating systems… if you call, they will laugh! They will no longer post security fixes. In short, you should bury these old dogs before July!
“You can’t say you weren’t warned. This July, years after it should have happened, Microsoft will end all meaningful support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows ME. Here is the key quote from the announcement: ‘…critical security updates for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows ME will end on July 11, 2006. No other security updates will follow after this date.'”
It is time to “move on” to more modern OSs… is it time for you to consider Linux? Or, will you still support the Evil Empire?
“Virus researchers at Kaspersky Lab have found proof-of-concept code for a cross-platform virus capable of infecting both Windows and Linux systems. In an alert posted to Viruslist, Kaspersky said the sample virus has been given a dual name—Virus.Linux.Bi.a/ Virus.Win32.Bi.a—and highlighted the way attackers are targeting multiple platforms in malware attacks.”
The bad guys that write virii are BAD DEWDS! Sigh!
Two VERY interesting things caught my eye today… and air powered car (that my wife, Belinda, saw in Dr. Mercola’s Blog,) and an air and gravity powered aircraft! Dewd! Now we are talking! The “air powered car” is $3.00 per 100 mile trip tank of compressed air, and the “gravity plane” gathers it’s own fuel while it flies! What will they think of next! Check out the animation of the plane for an explanation:
This one is worth every penny I didn’t have to pay for it! No bloated Nero to burn an ISO file to a CD! Now, you have a simple “Windows Wizard”-like interface to burn ISOs! It really, really does truly rock!
“ISO Recorder is a tool (power toy) for Windows XP, 2003 and now Windows Vista, that allows (depending on the Windows version) to burn CD and DVD images, copy disks, make images of the existing data CDs and DVDs and create ISO images from a content of a disk folder.”

Dr. Bill totally geek’s out over his new HP Pavilion dv5000 series laptop! Tune in for his “review” (and drooling) over his NEW laptop! Dr. Bill makes a mistake on “air”… again… sigh! “Dr. Bill is Excited” Week, Cred to Scott Redmond for our new web site header… check out his web site at Triad Web Solutions (the link is in the Blog), what is “middle-aged” according to the Doctor?, Dr. Bill gives you a “tutorial” on using his web site, how to subscribe to the podcast, Dr. Bill looks at Tech News, Microsoft will “host” Linux VIRTUALLY, “The Next Big Thing,” IPTV, the “Louisiana Chef Dewd”, the “Democracy Player” and “FireAnt” IP Video Media players, Apple does Windows!, Boot Camp from Apple, you can also run Windows and Linux “virtually” in a window on your Mac with Parallels Workstation 2.1, another REALLY BAD Internet Explorer exploit that allows “phishers” to steal your personal financial information! And explanation of “phishing”, an actual demonstration of “phishing”, only half of CORPORATE desktops are Windows Vista “Aero Glass” ready! Video cards guys like Gartner Groups story! Dr. Bill plays with his toys… bye!
Gartner has done a study that shows that only 50% of all current corporate PCs are ready for Vista’s “Aero” interface.
“Whereas today’s mainstream processors and hard drives offer plenty of performance and capacity to keep up with the new OS—now scheduled to arrive for large businesses in November and consumers in January 2007—IT managers and their counterparts, in addition to consumers buying PCs, should take care to specify at least 1GB of memory. If they aim to tap Vista’s Aero user interface, they will need a recent graphics processor, a new report by Gartner said.”
