Geek Software of the Week: Small, Fast, Clean, and FREE PDF Reader!
When you want to display PDF documents what do you do? Most folks download Adobe’s PDF Reader, after all, it is free, right? Well, less and less… why do I say that? The “newer” versions of the Adobe Reader try and get you to download all kinds of other junk as well, and they also try to get you to use their “downloader,” which is installed on your system and pollutes your computer… then there is the fact that it is constantly asking you to upgrade it, instead of just displaying the PDF… and now, on top of all this, they have advertisements in it! NO, thanks!

Great idea! Apple saw the need for a clean and simple PDF viewer and beginning with Mac OS X it comes installed on every Apple computer. It is called Preview. Also built into Mac OS X is the ability to convert ANY document that can be printed on a printer to a PDF file. If the file is text it converts it to vector data that is resolution independent, rather than raster data (ie: bitmaps, bmp, jpg)
